Moving Forward...
So much of life has happened since the last BIG post: (TLDR) A dear family/friend and musical compatriot of 24 years found his dream home on the east coast, a Song gets written and can't remember the last part...
When Shon called me and told me what and HOW it happened, I immediately thought "Oh hell. What are we (Shon and I) gonna do?" It was selfish fear and it lasted for a whole 3 seconds after taking in the beautiful details of how they got it, the dream home, in a Day, minutes away from family, next to a gorgeous lake. I couldn't be mad. Not at my brother for scoring well on the Karma Lottery. He truly deserves the love and joys coming to him from family, supportive friends and students.
Taking on major changes has been a thing for Shon and I, and we see that on the regular "How we doin' kid?" "Same as always." "That bad, eh?" XD . We roll with what we have, and we make it work everytime.
After a while, I found myself picking on my guitar and penned a piece, outlining a thought when Shon spoke of his life changing in a day. I didn't have much lyrically at first, but once I started the first line the rest came fairly quickly.
VERSE 1:
"GOT THE CALL
THERE'S GONNA BE A CHANGE
EVERYTHING YOU LOVE
WILL BE REARRANGED"
And since I hate writing songs that feel too negative, I have to find a positive spin or angle:
CHORUS:
"IT'S NOT THE END
AND NOTHING WILL BE THE SAME
THERE IS NO STRESS
THE COST WILL BE WORTH THE GAIN
"WHAT THE UNIVERSE HAS SAID
'WE'RE MOVING FORWARD AGAIN'. "
VERSE 2:
I KNOW YOU FEEL
THERE'S JUST NO WAY
TO GET ANYTHING YOU WANT
WITHOUT A HARD PRICE TO PAY
(CHORUS)
VERSE 3:
NOW WE SEE
IT ALL FALLING IN LINE
STRUGGLE CREATES THE PATH
AND NOW IT'S YOUR TIME
WHEN YOU LET GO
OF ALL THE PAIN IN YOUR MIND
I HOPE YOU FEEL THE LOVE
FROM WHO ARE KIND
(CHORUS)

I've yet to finish drafting the musical parts due to the challenge of finding the right key and tempo. So much more work to do and I can't wait to get started. (heheh).
I have been given the honor to host a new Open Mic on the 3rd Saturday of the month at La Dolce Vita in Old Town Arvada. I'm luck and excited to be part of a legacy of Open Mics that have been hosted there over the many years.
I was also very lucky to be able to perform a show for my friend Bryan and his family for their annual BBQ. A most excellent night was had and I did capture some video I hope to edit and post soon.
Coming up soon: more video performances and better pics.... I hope.
I sew my OWN BUTTONS!!
